Memories Made | Christmas with our community pt. 3

Every family has their own way of celebrating the festive season; quiet mornings, shared meals, laughter, and love. This season, we’re celebrating the small traditions that make the holidays so special, told through the eyes of our Nature Baby community. Here's Christmas told by @hannahbeaden &  x

      Christmas with Hannah Beaden

      1. Do you have any special traditions you look forward to every Christmas?

My favourite day is picking up our Christmas tree then coming home and decorating it with the kids then we watch elf and have hot chocolates.

      2. Are there any traditions you’ve carried on from your own childhood?

A few things we did growing up were homemade Christmas decorations with dried oranges so we do that each year and also the kids get new Christmas pyjamas on Christmas Eve along with a book or stuffed animal. We also each got a new ornament every year so that when we moved out we had a collection of our own so I'm now doing the same for my kids.

      3. What’s your favourite memory of Christmas with your children so far?

My favourite is Christmas morning seeing them wake up so excited! We try to keep the morning nice and special by taking turns opening gifts as the kids have gotten older so the morning doesn't go so fast.

      4. How do you create a sense of warmth, love, and togetherness during the holidays?

Christmas movies together, having get togethers with out friends and making the most of the entire month!

      Christmas with Jessie Wong

      1. Do you have any special traditions you look forward to every Christmas?

A big Christmas meal, the kind that goes all afternoon. We ate a lot of seafood last year, which I loved, rather than the big, heavy meals traditionally served in winter. It also tested the kitchen skills; we did a lot of recipes from the Cafe Cecelia cookbook by Max Rochas. Delicious!

      2. Are there any traditions you’ve carried on from your own childhood?

Opening advent calendars, playing games outside, and my sister doing her classic silly dance while pretending to be Santa on Christmas morning. Our first Christmas with Bobby was no different; she kept the tradition alive, much to his delight.

      3. What’s your favourite memory of Christmas with your children so far?

Bobby’s first Christmas at the beach up at Sandy Bay, dipping his toes in the water for the first time. It was a bit breezy, and I'm not sure if he was a massive fan of the tide, but I'm looking forward to that again this year.

      4. How do you create a sense of warmth, love, and togetherness during the holidays?
The trick in our family is to get the organising done early so the focus can just be on being together, enjoying and soaking up those easy, happy moments with family. I am not afraid of a spreadsheet! Organised fun.
